Two charged with murder of 5-week-old baby

A man and woman have been charged following the death of a 5-week-old baby.

Paramedics were called to a caravan park on Old Chatswood Road, Daisy Hill about 6.45pm on June 14 following reports of an unresponsive baby, police claim.

The child was transported to Logan Hospital where he was declared dead at 8.30pm.

“Operation Tango Triandra” was launched by Logan Child Protection and Investigation Unit detectives with the assistance of the Child Trauma Task Force, Crime and Intelligence Command.

Investigations lead detectives to executive a search warrant at a Yatala home around 7am on Wednesday where a 44-year-old man was arrested.

A 36-year-old woman was later arrested at Zillmere.

Both were known to the child.

They have since been charged each with one count of murder.

They will appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Police are now appealing to anyone with information regarding the death of this baby, to come forward.
