Residents living near Queensland’s Spring Mountain have been urged to check their garages, backyards and sheds for a missing 74-year-old woman as the search effort enters its third day.

Kate Mandala went missing from Augustine Heights, near Ipswich, on the morning of December 30.

Witnesses reported seeing the mission woman walking in the vicinity of Tournament Drive and Augusta Parkway in Brookwater around 8am the same day.

She was last seen on foot in the Spring Mountain area, with police now urging residents to check their properties, believing she may have sought shelter from the recent hot weather.

Family and police hold concerns for Ms Mandela welfare due to a medical condition and her limited English language ability.

“Kate speaks limited English and may be disorientated and dehydrated,” A Queensland Police spokesman said.

“Police are requesting residents, particularly in the Spring Mountain area, to check their yards, garages and sheds for Kate.”

SES volunteers and Police are currently searching the Spring Mountain, Springfield Central, Springfield Lakes, Augustine Heights and Brookwater areas for Ms Mandela and have called on residents to check their CCTV cameras from 8am on December 30.

Anyone with information should contact Policelink on 131 444.
