The parents of a young girl who died suddenly last year have been charged over her death.
The little girl, 3, was rushed to hospital on July 7, 2022 after an alleged medical incident in Townsville in far-north Queensland.
The girl died later that day.
The child’s parents, a 25-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman have been charged with one count each of manslaughter.

“This is a case of neglect and negligence on behalf of the family,” Townsville Child Protection Investigation Unit Senior Sergeant Dave Miles told reporters on Tuesday.
He alleged the child was suffering form medical condition which was “totally treatable”.
“Our case is that this child should not have died.”
Police will allege the parents failed to “provide the necessary health needs to the child” and that resulted in the child’s death.
The child was born with a medical condition that required a “strict” treatment plan to treat which the parents are alleged to have failed to follow.
“The child deteriorated over a period of 24 hours and that resulted in the child’s death,” Senior Sergeant Miles said.
