Man from cops hid in roof after woman shot

A man who was allegedly found hiding out in a roof cavity has been charged after a woman was left at a hospital with gunshot wounds.

On January 12, a 37-year-old woman was driven to the emergency department of the Bankstown Hospital just before 1pm.

CCTV footage showed a man pulling up and pointing paramedics to his passenger seat, before leaving the scene on foot.

Officers from the Bankstown Police Area Command attended the scene, and Strike Force Chelston was formed to investigate the matter.

Local detectives were assisted by the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime squad.

Just after 10pm on Friday, following police investigation, a 33-year-old man was found allegedly hiding in the roof cavity at a home in Picnic Point.

He was taken to the Bankstown Police Station and charged with discharging a firearm intending to cause harm, using an unauthorised pistol and other firearm offences.

He was refused bail to appear in the Parramatta Bail court on Saturday.
