Kids injured in twin bus crash

Eight people, including seven children, have been taken to hospital following a crash between two buses.

The school buses collided along Great Western Hwy near Springwood, in the Blue Mountains, about 4.15pm Friday during the after-school run.

One of the buses contained 10 passengers, the other 15.

Two children were taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, while another five children were taken to Nepean Hospital, all for assessment and treatment of minor injuries.

While the driver of one of the buses was also taken to Nepean Hospital for treatment of a shoulder injury.

The crash had the highway closed in both directions as police investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

It reopened westbound about 6pm. The eastbound lanes reopened an hour later.
