Former Australian foreign minister Julie Bishop is headed to the United Kingdom for the coronation of King Charles III.

The 66-year-old received an official invite which she shared on Instagram on Thursday morning.

She captioned the picture: “I am honoured to be invited.

“I will be present at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May 2023 at 11am to witness the coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla — history in the making.”

The post has her location set as “London,” indicating she’s already in the UK ahead of the weekend’s ceremony.”

Ms Bishop is one of about 2000 guests invited to the event, which will take place on Saturday evening for those in Australia.

Among fellow Aussies will be 18-year-old Tayla Green-Aldridge, after being invited by national charity Prince‘s Trust Australia, through which she graduated from their Get Into Maritime program.

Matildas star Sam Kerr and musician Nick Cave also scored invites to the event of the century.

And of course Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will be in attendance, along with Governor-General David Hurley, and their partners.

Ms Bishop is current chair of Prince’s Trust Australia, and is travelling with Ms Green-Aldridge.

Since leaving politics, Ms Bishop has been making headlines for her glamorous jaunts around the globe.

Last month she shared a clip to Instagram showing off her stay at the five-star Gansevoort Meatpacking hotel in New York City, which costs up to $2,814 per night.

“I have just walked from the Upper East Side to the Meatpacking District. It’s a very different vibe here,” Ms Bishop said.

“I’m staying at the exceedingly cool Gansevoort hotel, which is just behind me. I’m really going forward to it.”

She later added “So my first stop at the Gansevoort is the coffee shop and they’re making me an almond milk cappuccino.”

“#giftedstay,” she captioned the video, also tagging Luxury Escapes.
