A teenager girl was sexually assaulted as she sunbathed in a bikini on Rottnest Island.
A police manhunt is underway for the predator who attacked the teenager on New Year’s Eve, on Thomson Bay Beach.
Officers said the girl was lying on a towel north of the ferry jetty between 10.15am and 12.30pm when she was attacked by an unknown male.
The girl was wearing a black bikini with a white sundress at the time.
Police are urging witnesses to come forward, with many people on and around the beach at the time who would have seen the girl, the assault, or a male acting suspiciously.
The teenager was sunbathing at Thomson Bay Beach on the morning of New Year’s Eve when she was assaulted.
The beach is in full view of any visitors arriving on Rottnest by ferry, located right by the main ferry terminal.
The beach itself backs on to chalet accommodation and the main settlement, which would have been bustling with tourists and holiday-makers at the time.
Anyone with any information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online.
