Cops release image after alleged sex assault

The search is on for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a retail worker at a popular Melbourne shopping centre last month.

Investigators have been told a man entered the clothing store where the woman worked at Westfield Knox shopping centre in Wantirna South about 1pm on December 15.

He was approached by the female staff member to see if he needed assistance.

Police said the man spoke to the victim before allegedly sexually assaulting her and leaving.

Detectives have released CCTV and images of a man who may be able to assist police with their inquiries.

The man is perceived to be of Indian subcontinental appearance, aged in his 50s, about 152cm tall with dark hair and eyes.

He was wearing a large blue coat, blue jeans and brown runners.
