Two police officers are in hospital after they were allegedly assaulted at a busy Sydney train station.

The officers were patrolling Central Railway Station about 4pm on Friday just before peak hour.
They were speaking to a female passenger “in relation to an unrelated matter” when a man approached the group and attempted to interfere, NSW Police said.
