An 18-year-old swimmer has been reported missing off Freshwater Beach in Sydney’s north, prompting a police search on Saturday evening.
Witnesses claim that the young man was one of three friends who had been swimming at the popular beach near Manly when he failed to return to shore.
NSW Police says the multi-agency search has involved Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter, a police helicopter and a police boat, and began at approximately 8:15pm on Saturday.

Despite the extensive search efforts, there has been no sign of the missing swimmer.
A number of bystanders have reportedly gathered on nearby dunes near the beach to observe the ongoing operation.
