A man’s charge has been upgraded after he allegedly attacked another man with what’s believed to have been a machete.
The alleged incident happened on Sunday, March 5, in the Karratha suburb of Bulgarra, in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.
WA Police allege Ben Justin Errington, 18, attended a home on Withnell Way about 6am, attacking a 24-year-old man with a machete, or similar weapon, causing the victim severe cuts to his head and upper body.
The 24-year-old had to be flown more than 1500km south to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.

Mr Errington had previously been charged with grievous bodily harm, but that charge has been upgraded to a count of attempt to unlawfully kill.
He’s due back in Karratha Magistrates Court on the upgraded charge on March 21.
Police investigations continue as detectives search for the weapon used in the alleged attack.
They also want to hear from anyone who has dashcam vision of Bayview Rd and Pegs Creek near Cattrall Park in the Bulgarra area between 6am and 7am on Sunday, March 5.
