AS more than 300 million fans around the world get ready to watch King Charles III officially crowned, these are some of the best moments from the coronation so far.
From royalty and world leaders, including Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, to ordinary people who have done extraordinary things, the stage is set for the historic event at Westminster Abbey.
Some people hoping to catch a glimpse of the royal family camped out for days in particularly attention-grabbing gear, while others held street parties.
The atmosphere on the Mall is absolutely jubilant – except for when republican protesters appear.
Occasional bursts of booing can be heard amid the happy singing, chatter and cheers, in response to occasional flashes of yellow placards, with slogans like “Not My King” by members of the protest group Republic.
The group had threatened large-scale demonstrations on coronation day – and they may still come – but the only appearances in the hours ahead of the ceremony were from single individuals or small groupings, risking – and receiving – the wrath of the crowd.
But despite the small crowd of hostility, it won’t dampen celebrations for millions of others.
Here are some of the best pictures from the coronation so far.
