Two men and a woman have been charged over an alleged incident in Melbourne’s west on Friday, which led to a police officer allegedly being slashed in the face during the arrest.
An hours-long manhunt was underway for those responsible for the theft of a food delivery car, when a police chase ended in the officer being attacked in Melton South at about 1pm on Friday.
The car was allegedly stolen after the driver left it running while dropping off an order at a Kirkton Drive address in Kurunjang at about 9.25am.
Police tracked the alleged victim’s phone, which had been left inside the car, to find the stolen Toyota Camry on First Ave in Melton South.
When officers approached the car, two men ran from it and into the Wattle Place Reserve Playground, police said.
An officer then tackled one of the men to the ground, and was allegedly slashed in the face with a knife.
